James Nelson is a Partner and Business Advisor with MNP’s team in St. John’s. A leader with 16 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, assurance, consulting and tax, James primarily helps small private businesses, with a particular focus on professional corporations, as well as not-for-profit organizations.

James’ services include tax planning and preparation, privately owned business advisory and audits of small to medium-sized entities.

James has spent most of his career in public practice, in Ottawa, Ontario and St. John’s, Newfoundland. He works closely with physicians, dentists, lawyers and other professionals. He also has extensive experience working with not-for-profit organizations, helping them with their accounting and audit requirements, as well as advising on matters such as budget preparation and reporting, and the development of internal controls.

James earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2006. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2010.

James is treasurer of the Pearlgate Track and Field Club in Mount Pearl and treasurer of the RUAH Counselling Centre in St. John’s.
